Well done Dean! Lucky you've got a passenger seat for that big trophy!

Gotcha RocCity.. as my wife pointed out, "The trophy got a ride in the car, but not me!" Well, yeah, if the seat fits

====================

Upcoming regional fun 'Car Stuff' I'm planning to attend..

May 15, 2022.. Golita, CA.. The Santa Barbara County Auto Expo @ Glen Annie Golf Club.. 9a-3p.. Many different categories.. I've never been to this one, so new to me.. I love the charity/benefactor, an organization committed to teaching young people how to build, restore, and fabricate classic cars.. their website is; http://www.thecommunityhotrodproject.com.

June 5, 2022.. "Supercar Sunday".. Pierce College Campus, Woodland Hills, CA.. 7a-10a.. I've never been to this, but I'm told it's a VERY large 'cars and coffee' type gathering.. I'm going on the 5th because on this date, British cars are in the spotlight (although all makes and models will be there). Looking forward to seeing what it's all about.. Steve, the guy that bought my Honda N600 hipped me to this one.. he'll be out there with the Honda I think..

If you're regional, maybe plan to come out and say hi!.. could be fun

Aside: checked the odometer for last weekend's run; 580 total miles- meaning the rally itself was likely around 460 miles, as I had to travel from and back to Manteca, Ca where I started the journey..

Cars and Coffee (5-14-22)

A bit of an aside, but I saw some interesting things at last week's Pismo Beach C&C..

I can't remember what the silver truck is(??), but it created a bit of a stir when it pulled in.. it's electric, and has some funky, clever voids in the bodywork.. different..

The owner of the red Lotus was nice enough to let me sit in his cool little car to see if I fit.. Entry and exit were less than graceful, but technically I do in fact 'fit,' so there's yet another car that I should own at some point

Looks like a Rivian logo?
The cargo space doesn't look like it matches the current offerings, unless it was a pre-prod option or limited release, maybe 2023 model?

Yep, Rivian R1T
Have seen a couple on the road around here. Looks to be a bit bigger than a Tacoma but smaller than an F150. Almost ideal sized truck, IMO.

That Elan is a looker as well.

I love that little red Lotus. I just want to hug it . . . then drive it. It's probably worth a fortune now.

Cheers,

Hey guys.. did I miss something on how to load pics? Did something change when the site went down a few weeks ago? On my side, I now must log in to see pics (in any thread)? My last post with pics (5-20-22) didn't post them in the text like it normally does.. I stopped posting thinking this thing is still broke.. did we just change the way we do it? Anyone know if we will go back to where you do not have to be logged in to see pics? We must have several guests/ lurkers that now can't see the pics as they're not logged in?

Yes, you missed it. The last time the site went down it was due to being over our bandwidth. That has been fixed by making us click to look at the pictures. This is a temporary fix to temporarily reduce the bandwidth. Dave, our benefactor and web master, has hired a programmer and is looking for a new web hosting service.

I'm reluctant to post pics, as I don't want to go back and do this twice (when the site is upgraded), but I'm falling behind, and summer fabbing/progress is about to kick in, so at very least I feel I need to get this caught up to real time..

5-15-2022

Drove the Berk to a car show in Goleta, CA.. Nice show- it was held on a golf course, and the weather was perfect.. here are a few generic shots..

Here are some cars that caught my eye at the show..

-A 55 Chevy with a V12; don't see that every day!
-An early 70's Mercury Capri.. a friend had one in H.S... this triggered a few good memories :)
-A Honda N600.. clean and loved.. spoke with the owner for awhile.. he's restoring a Honda S600 coupe- my hero
-A Blazer with a grass patch for their doggy.. pretty cool..
-A best "Rat Rod" trophy for the Berkeley.. don't be too impressed, I think I was the only rat rod there

Scale..

Our year is winding down, and our HS theater department wanted a pic of me in the car so they could integrate it into an end of year production.. I'm pretty sure they were poking fun at how the poor teachers need better pay because just look at their poor lot in life, being reduced to driving crapcan cars on their meager wages.. silly fun, and good for scale..

I'm getting ready to drive the Berkeley in the "Motherlode 400" rally in two weeks, so I wanted to get it out and stretch its legs a bit and address any issues before I really tax it on the rally..

I drove it down to Woodland Hills, Ca (140 miles each way) to attend "Super Car Sunday." It was a well organized cars and coffee setup that hosted more cars than I'm used to seeing at a typical C&C, and while all makes and models are welcome, this day was dedicated to British cars. The Berkeley ran well, and these 280 miles revealed that I need to address interior heat issues as well as balance the tires before the rally.

*note in the one pic- the Berk and the Bugeye are absolutely dwarfed by the land yacht behind them
