I'm committed to this build now.
Tore down the 225 for a freshening up.
MAY have to replace the pistons as they are Std. bore and I do have some ridge at the top of the cylinders.
Kind of hate to do that, this engine clearly was balanced and everything looks virtually new.

Cam is an old Crower, #M4807, also has X20F stamped on it.
No info on their site but maybe I can get specs from them next week.
Pistons appear to be cast Silvolite, #1723
All bearing surfaces are great, could probably put the bearings back in, but of course I will not.

Very disappointed to find non-Turbo V6 parts getting a bit hard to find. :BH:
Even TA Performance seems to be abandoning them. :ack:

No matter, I will find the parts I need.
Have to decide on steel or aluminum flywheel as my last major engine purchase.
I lean to aluminum, but since this is to be sold steel is less expensive.
Need to remember this is not being built to keep, and I know I'm going to hate selling it once I've driven it.

Oh, and I usually do not name cars, as in never.
But I think this one is going to be "Risqué business".
Will need an appropriate graphic.

Well, when done it will have nice curves, be fast, and topless!

Also a bit of a gamble as to weather or not I can make a profit, so risky (Risqué).

I had forgotten just how few necessary specifications are published when not building a SBC. :BH:
So, one head job coming up!
One of todays projects is to CC my heads so that I may configure the new pistons to get at least 9.5-1.
Stock was slightly dished and 9-1.

After spending about $500 on tools I can now do my own accurate piston/bore measurements.
Seems that I will be able to re-use the pistons and keep my balanced 10-1 compression. :D
If I want the cam specs I will have to degree it out.

Well nuts.
Dio is now a bit of a back-burner project due to my being gifted a Land-Rover 101 FC 4X4.

Runs but needs brake work.
Oh, and a $#@! title.
77 ex-Mil., imported about twenty years ago.
Been sitting in a collection since.
Now I want to be able to legally drive it.

Help or links to get that done?

https://dmvnv.com/regprivate.htm

"Sellers should:

Provide a proper title to the buyer
Complete and keep a Bill of Sale (VP 104) as your record of the sale
Use the MyDMV Registration Cancellation & Vehicle Resale Notification to notify the DMV and receive your registration fee credit
Keep your license plates. Transfer them to another vehicle or surrender them
If the vehicle is registered to a family trust, you must also complete a Trustee Appointment and Powers Affidavit (VP 188).
You must provide a properly signed-off title to the buyer in private party sales, family sales or gifts. "

"The only exception is if the vehicle was 1) last titled in Nevada, 2) is more than 9 model years old and 3) has no liens or the owner of record has a lien release, the buyer and owner of record can then complete 1) an Application for Duplicate Title (VP 012) and 2) a Bill of Sale to transfer ownership."

"Title
If you are buying a vehicle from a private party or receiving a vehicle as a gift, you must have a properly signed-off title to register the vehicle and transfer ownership. A Bill of Sale by itself is not acceptable. If the seller does not have a title, the owner of record will have to apply for a duplicate from the state where the vehicle was last titled."

"Importing VehiclesTop ↑
Vehicles purchased overseas through the Armed Forces and titled with a Form AE 190-1A do not require shipping papers or DOT or EPA releases as long as they are built to U.S. safety and emissions standards.

The Form AE 190-1A may be substituted for a state-issued title and registration. Other registration requirements are the same as those for New Residents.

Vehicles purchased outside of the Armed Forces system and not built to U.S. standards are considered "gray market" vehicles and may require clearances from the US DOT and US EPA. See Section IV of our Registration and Title Guide and email us before importing a vehicle. You may also wish to contact our Emissions Lab if the vehicle will be based in Las Vegas or Reno."

I don't think this one has ever been titled anywhere.
Do the RAF have to bother with titles?
Whoever imported it should have done something about a title but apparently were able to get it past customs and resell it without bothering to do so.
There are a few more here in the U.S. so I'm trying to contact other owners to see what they had to do.
I've heard some rumor of a Virginia? "Cut-out" but no details yet.

Would like to avoid the Fed. if possible, it's been here about twenty years already.

Since all you have is a bill of sale for a grey market vehicle, it looks like you may need to purchase a bond to title, which will allow you to register for use. Verify with the dmv.
I'm guessing it will cost about $150.

I've gotten most of the forms off the web and they are simple since it's over twenty-five years old.
The original CBP 7501 would now be my "Golden Ticket".
I've asked the guy I got it from if he has it, or knows who did the import so that I may contact them about it.
He is going to look in his files, crossing fingers and toes!

Well, that's not going to work.
No bonded title for "Gray Market" vehicles.
On the other hand it seems I can petition a judge to order DMV to issue a title, and they will.
Too bad I am not on friendly terms with any local judges, but at least I have not appeared before them as a defendant recently either.

Really hoping the import form is located by my friend!

Slant six?
Had one once but not sure how it relates to my title issue.

These guys have experience with registering prior military vehicles in Nevada:

https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthrea ... led-by-DMV

It would be a good place to ask. They talk about Las Vegas being a good place to go first.
