I took a plywood scrap, and make a pattern for the holes. As well as marked a the side beam with vertical centers.

Where is your sense of adventure? What is it they say about bold and old? Kidding aside, I understand though not too bad if you keep the ethanol out of the bottom end. These seem to be the achilles heel of ATPs.

Let's go! I want to see bits on a table. Just don't look for my wheeled progress....

Today's progress, frame done, legs and under-frame all cut to size ready for tomorrow.
You can see how the floor slopes away to the left of the picture.

I have a personal rule not to fly anything, in any manner, where my life is dependent on the reliability of my engine. My oddball homebuilt aircraft experience goes back close to fifty years, and I can't count off the top of my head how many forced landings (I won't call them "emergency landings" because they weren't) I've had due to power plant failures, and I have never once had my heart rate increase because the noise stopped. The secret to safe flying with a Rotax two stroke, or any engine of that ilk, is to be aware every second of where you're going to land if things get quiet.

Build table is complete, constructed to Spike's plan and video.
Really strong and heavy, as he said in the video you can park a car on this table, I intend to.
Maybe when I'm finished it I could convert it into a Hurricane shelter as I live in FL......lol

Got UK Tag today (it's a fake replica), came with a really nice chromed license holder.
I thought I would do the last thing first to help with incentive.

Good job! That definitely adds to the "character" points for your build.

Cheers,

P.S. Super execution on that build table too.

Thank you.

Bummer today, two local Welding Gas suppliers refused to sell me an Argon bottle today, stated that they are in short supply. Went home and ordered one on Amazon, instant success. Gives me a week to spend cleaning parts etc.

I like the tag.

Hope you bought a big bottle. The little ones don't last long and cost about as much to refill/exchange. Exchanging is much quicker. CO2/argon mix is typical. No need for pure argon.

Seems you could have just extended the bottom frame rails on the bike frame as needed and built out from there. Need a larger OD driveshaft of course due to the length and to prevent whipping.

I suggest wiping down the tubes now and spraying a light coat of rustoleum "heavily rusted metal primer" on to stop any rust from progressing as you build. Less mess too.

I washed mine with a green scrubby and dawn to get the slag off them. then wiped them down with WD40.

This is the target look for my replica.

and Yes I know I have to use spacers with the Mustang II rotor/hub/caliper set up. I have 5 by 5 1/2 spacers that fit the Udrill hubs I purchased.

and Yes I know I have to use locators for the Ford wire wheels, my hubs have them built in.

PS: I need another 18" 32 Model B wheel if you know of one.
