Fabbed up the cross brace to tie the 2 front upper coilover mounts together.

Started playing with the pedal box and steering wheel locations. Looks like all will fit nicely with a bit of modification. I am considering getting a smaller steering wheel, will have to research that, no idea what the Mazda attachment is like.

Great progress, Perry.

But, you know I think you ought to change the title of this build thread. I keep reading, "Perry's Final Build the 1929 Mercedes Gazelle." However, I keep thinking it should be more like this:

Perry's (kinda, maybe, sorta, possibly, and not likely) Final Build the 1929 Mercedes Gazelle

Tell me I'm wrong here.

Cheers,

I do suggest you place a seat in the driver's side and do a "locate" on the steering wheel. I ended up doing some reset after I had already re-tacked the mounts and then set the seat in place.

I think I'll still keep busy in my shop, just on a smaller scale

Oh yeah Thom already did that, that was my vroom, vroom moment, sorry no pic

Completed the frame for the steering column. I had to do some forward thinking on this piece, it had to be removable becuase once the fiberglass floor pan is glassed to the body the pedal box, gas pedal, steering column assembly will have to be removed if the body ever has to be taken off the frame. It's attached to the frame with 9 5/16" bolts.

Lucked out and will not have to rework the shifter, it ended up being in the right place regarding seat and steering wheel.

Cheers,

Forgive me for being late to this, but I've missed something.. why is this your 'final build?' You have been building A LOT; are you burned out? I hope not, but understandable if so.. I thrashed all summer on mine, and I have in fact burned out on it, at least for now.. I'm not retired yet, but when I do this to myself (burn myself out), it makes me wonder how many builds I have left in me, and I'm thinking it is a sort of warning to choose my projects carefully, as surely I can't/ won't want to do this indefinitely.. is that what's happened here? Is this build your 'line in the sand' last one? Whatever the case, looking forward to how it comes together.. and for what it's worth, I agree with the rear end chop- much better now

Not so much as burned out, I just need to change it up a bit I guess. When I mentioned to Lonnie that I am going a smaller scale, I'm thinking about a ubilt 1904 Oldsmobile. I should be able to build one with the skills I have learned building the 7's and the Topolino.

Made it out to the shop for a bit yesterday.
Cut out the pieces for the firewall, there's 3 of them. Fitted the DS firewall piece and cut out hole for the 1" flanged bearing that supports the steering shaft. Clocked the u joints and drilled the shaft and secured with 1/4" Gr8 bolts.

Ha Ha Ha Thom, don't own one, but I do have a leather cabby hat that I use when motoring in the 7 (I also use transition prescription goggles).

Yup, it looks like we might have a serial finisher in our midst. Keeps knocking out successful projects one after the other in unbelievable timeframes, if only it could be bottled I would buy some!

Hold on there guys, I gotta go hard, we spend 5 months a year in Desert Hot Springs, too far for me to commute to my shop. So as they say here on the bald a$$ prairies, "you got to make hay while the sun shines"
Thanks for the kudo's, appreciate them

Well I am one tired puppy tonight feeling like I'm 63 years old.

Went to the shop this morning, did a bit of welding on the frame then removed the diff, trailing arms, upper and lower control arms, tires, rotors, rack and pinion, pedal box, gas peddle, steering wheel assembly, and whatever else off the build table. Then I moved the build table to the other shop and set up the frame on the rotisserie. Going to be some welding on the frame and I think thats where it will spend the winter seasoning when we go south.
Voltaren is my friend tonight.
On a lighter note the frame balanced out pretty good on the rotisserie, I'm gonna buy a lottery ticket.
Some pics.

@horchoha

"Moved to your other shop?" My, my, my, I wish I had that problem.

I've been juggling cars and machinery into/out of my garage for years. It's a butt pain. Right now, everything is packed into one of the two car slots. I'm doing a lot of maintenance/detail work on my fleet with the intention of selling everything but my new truck and the Locost. So, "no progress" is just temporary until then. "Other shop", indeed.

By the way, we're in for a triple-dip La Niña this year. That means another dry winter for California and a wetter, colder winter for the Northwest with lots of snow. Please, bring your water with you when you come [LOL].

Cheers,
