Anyone have experience refitting traditionally off road vehicles to be street legal? My friend has a legends race car and wants to meke it street legal.

It’s like anything else. It depends on the rules in your State as to the year model that will be applied.

Title is one thing. Registration in an emission testing area is something else.

Probably need vin verification by a leo on the bits that are supposed to be stamped, bills of sale, and inspection to meet state code.

Just title it as a replica 34 Ford or whatever. That pretty much gets around most of the rules in Florida, and should be good in many other states also.

Sounds like words from someone who lives in an "easy" state. MV8 has it right. Some states are easy, Some are "difficult" but doable. Others take a "not in my state" attitude. At least one state will not allow anything without S/Ns on all the major parts including Bill of sale with the VIN # of the car it came from. And at least one state will not license any BEC's. The answer is definitely dependent by the state you live in.
