Post subject: | Obtaining a title for an unfinished car for export (NJ) |
I'm looking for some advice and local DVLA knowledge. A car has come up for sale in New Jersey that I am keen to buy and ship to where I live in Scotland. According to the seller, it was bult on the chassis of a 1970 TVR, which has been modified, fitted with a non-TVR fiberglass body and the good ol' SBC, but never completed. -The current owner did not build it, but has owned it for 25 years and has not finished it. -It has no title, just a bill of sale from 1991. -It has no VIN number. The TVR VIN was on a plate on the firewall...of the TVR body, which is long gone. TVRs of that period did not have a VIN or chassis number stamped into the chassis. -Without a title, it is going to be VERY difficult to get it out of the US. Any advice on the quickest/cheapest/easiest route to obtaining a title would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Any information apprecited. Thanks. |

Any way to break it down and send it as parts? It won't get you a title but it may make getting it to you easier. Otherwise I'd walk. No title = no interest for me. It's amazing how easy it allegedly is to get titles with bills of sale yet no seller ever gets one.....strange. |
