I am going through this now and so far so good.

Met with the highway patrol yesterday. All they did was confirm the vin on the engine matched the title and the vin on the title was listed as stolen.

Went to DMV today and going through 4 people, finally found someone who knew how the process worked. The only receipts they wanted to see was for the steel for the frame and aluminum for the body. Paid my fee since my receipts showed I paid taxes on the steel and aluminum and a few minutes later I had a vin number. Now I wait for the highway patrol to call back and let me know they have the tag. In the mean time as I wait, since I have a VIN, I can start shopping insurance. Title will be mailed once form is received at DOR from Highway patrol stating they have installed the VIN tag and once I receive the title its an easy application for historic registration/plates.

I am hoping I am 100% legal by end of May.

Great news.

With a VIN, you can now contact Hagerty. They will insure these crazy vehicles at a low cost. At least they did on mine. I think Grundy will also.

Funny thing on the insurance. Grundy quoted me $164 and hagerty $170. I was curious what my agent would quote me. My normal insurance wouldn't touch it and I am not surprised. He also can quote through hagerty so he did that and the quote was $460. I need to compare the two quotes as they may not be quoting the same specs but that is a big delta. Might have to check out new agents for my daily drivers if they are marking it up hagerty this much.

Hi Chris,

I went with Grundy. Here in Seattle agreed value of $12K, no deducatable on collision or comprhensive. Hagerty was a touch higer and All State laughed.

Good luck!

wonderful news. I received the title yesterday and today went to the DMV paid my $31 fee and now have historic plates.

I am still amazed Missouri didn't require any safety inspection. They didn't even ask me to show that all the lights and turn signals worked and they chuckled when I showed them my big book of receipts and pictures and build log. I guess I can keep it for posterity.

Great news Chris! Congratulaations!

Very similar to how mine went. My inspector did want to see receipts for the engine and transmission.

Cheers!
