I'm looking at buying an old Kellison Dune Buggy since I am surrounded by dirt roads and do not want to go the hassle of building a 4x4.
Old VW based buggies are pretty simple.
It's an odd body, MG TD mixed with Meyers Manx.
But I like unique, and MG.
The point I need to figure out is that the title is lost, it's an estate sale, the plates are also lost, and I'm told it has been of the road so long that it is "No longer in the system" anyway.
I escaped that miserable state decades ago so am no longer current on how bad the hoops are there now.
I see a lot of adds for old cars in CA that make a point of stating "No longer in the system" as some sort of advantage and reason to buy.
I would like to keep this a simple get it running project rather than have to buy a titled Bug and put this body on it.
So any clues as to how much headache I am looking at to replace the title would be appreciated.
I would contact CA DMV but I know it's best to not make any statements or ask questions that can be used to makelife harder later.
They used to try to trick me into saying my project cars had touched the road, so additional fee's would be due!
