I doubt it can be much simpler than this.
Tatum Formula Vee bare chassis.
The body does not become a supporting structure.
Bug suspension.

I'm guessin', with the crudity of the VW Type 1 suspension, a torsionally rigid chassis offers no advantage! :?:

Actually Formula Vee is very unique. Because of swing axle the rear roll center is very high, a little above center of wheel. Front because of trailing arm torsion setup has roll center on the ground. This results in severe over steer. The solution figured out long ago is to make the rear what is called a zero roll suspension. This means zero roll resistance. Left wheel when pushed up push on linkage that pushes shock that pushes linkage that pushes down on right wheel. One spring and shock only in rear and no weight transfer from body roll is transferred to rear wheels.

It is kind of cool solution. It also makes torsional rigidity of frame no very important at all.
