Where is the balance point for track width vs agility.
A more narrow car will not need as much room in transition from right or left than a wide car.
A narrow car (only width changed) will behave like it has a higher CG thus may not corner as well.
A narrow car can have wider tires and not be wider than a wide car.
A narrow car may have a more forgiving feel at the edge of traction.

Am I on the right track?
How important is track width in the big picture?

Narrow car does have a shorter course to drive.
Especially on a tight course.

But on open nationals style courses, like these, not as much.

Before going so narrow that the vehicle tips, you will transfer too much weight and overload the outside tires. The car will be slower due to less grip and tire life will be shortened but you would need actual tire data to determine this. Gut feel says you're probably fine in a Seven due to the low CG and light weight. We aren't using narrow 13" tires anymore anyways.

That last video shows a Locost with a narrow chassis (track width) (not a 442) this is exactly what I am looking at.
