The car that started a movement is up for sale buy the author himself. Yes! Ron Champion's car is posted on Facebook by none other than Ron Champion. It is a bit worn from 30 years of storage and needs a fair amount of work to get it back to running condition. Buy is and Be the envy of everyone here.

If you can't get it, try this one. It is a link to the Facebook Locost Kit Car Owners Group, or something like that.

I was quite amazed to see the ad this morning. From my understanding, Ron Champion had fallen off the radar quite a few years ago. For those not on Facebook, here is his ad and photos:

Hi

I am not connected with the seller, it is just it would be great if it could be in a suitable museum - such as the Haynes Motor Museum (https://www.haynesmuseum.org/) which was set up by the publisher John Haynes - as this started a widespread movement of people building these cars. Haynes published the Locost books. This would be a nice link to John Haynes’s early days publishing books on building Ford specials and Austin Seven specials, and his building of them himself, as well as the Locost and Haynes Roadster titles and all the workshop manuals well known in the UK.

I would be very happy to contribute to a crowdsourced fundraiser for this to go into a suitable museum.

It really does seem like a museum-worthy vehicle, IMHO.

I wonder about the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles, or Jay Leno's garage? It may not be their kind of car, however. Some museum in the UK would be more appropriate, I would say.

Cheers,

Yes, museums do "Preserve" cars but they rot from lack of use.
I am often saddened to see wonderful cars just sitting for decades.
Before he died the greatest thing about Bill Harrah's collection was that all the cars were kept registered and driven.

Oh, you're bringing back memories of my wasted youth, Richard. Not only did Harrah have the museum in Reno, he used to display one car at a time at the casino in Stateline, NV, as well as sponsor the unlimited hydroplanes races on Lake Tahoe.

I remember going to the casino at Stateline, and in the glass case outside, under the big portico, he had one of the biggest, rarest, Bugattis ever built. The Royale? It was impressive to say the least. Harrah lived large, but in a nice way.

Cheers,

Apparently the car is sold, I wonder where it will end up? I was very surprised to see that on Facebook, but I don't think my wife understood why I thought it was as cool a car as I did.

Looks like the car was bought by a guy named Matt Reid:
