Took the Locost out for an hour today to test it out. New Wilwood calipers up front and all new front bushings. Wow, what a difference. A bit more braking ability and sooooo much better handling. I can’t believe how much difference it made. Don’t get me wrong, I love my new brakes and I’m sure once the pads get worn in it will get even better. Look out Arkansas. As soon as this damn virus is calmed down I’m headed down there!!!! Russ

What kind of bushings? Where'd you get them?

I ended up buying some 3/4" od DOM tubing and boring them out to 12mm on my lathe because that's what my bolts were. The delron bushings I had made to my spec's from a guy on ebay that makes custom bushings. delrin_jz6206pita@members.ebay.com I could not find anything premade to suit what I needed. Russ

I'm assuming some type of compliant rubber bushings previously? Glad to hear how much getting rid of the deflection improved the handling.

No they were a hard plastic bushing. They were cracking from age.

I noticed the formula they use(d) for the energy suspension poly bush had them crumbling after about 10 years. Probably better off long term by turning your own from industrial nylon rod.

Delrin rod is too expensive and UHMW is too hard and squeaks like hell if not regularly lubed.

I've turned bushings from Nylon 6/6 (generic Nylon). They squeaked so badly that people made fun of them... on an unmuffled race car. No kind of grease was ever able to quiet them more than briefly. They also wore down the pivot bolts quickly.

[specific application: GM 4-link rear, Chevy H-body]

I believe it. None of the pivots are parallel. Needs compliance or rod ends. Could have been too hard of durometer too.

I made strut rod bushes out of uhmw that held up great but had to be regreased if I drove in the rain.

Took the Locost out for a spin with the wife today. It was great to get out of the house. She is really handling great and I can't wait to get her out on some REAL roads. Not Kansas roads. The Locost, not the wife. The end of this lock down IS coming. Russ
