Got a bonus yesterday - a free Safety Clean parts washer. It was a customer owned unit from a machine shop that a neighbor was giving away. It needed work, but I think it turned out well. Some paint with appliance rattle can on the light and inner lid, some black rattle can on the outside, new ballast for the light itself, and a new power cord, and I was in business for less than $20!

Wouldn't it work better if you laid it flat? (Okay, sorry).

I had to get rotate mailer for the iPhone. I have to mail the photos to me then save and post. What a PIA. For some reason this site has a IOS phobia.

Randy,

If I click on your photos to enlarge them they rotate 90* to vertical. Originally had to do Steve's the same. Plus some others along the way.

IPA at 10% alchohol?

Cheers

To rotate the entire screen on a PC, press right, left or down arrow while holding ctrl and alt keys. Do the same with the up arrow to return to normal. Fun trick to play on somebody.

I just clicked on his pic and it rotated upright. I never knew it did that.

My guess is that you're taking the pics with your phone held in the vertical position. Try holding the phone horizontal like a camera, take the pics and try post them on site to see how they turn out orientation wise.

Oh I’ve been down that road. It still spins them.

OBP pedal box came today! Overall it looks really nice. It looks like I'll have to drill holes for mounting bolts to the floor (bummer because it has nice powder coat). It also has no throttle spring, stop or linkage. Take a look at the photos below. I am trying to figure out options for the throttle cable. Thoughts are to weld the bit off the stock pedal on the side of the OBP pedal pulling down with pedal pushing, and a piece of 3mm that has a cut out for the stock cable sheath end above the pedal assembly (thanks to Dave Struve for that idea).

I'm open to ideas. There's also a hole above the throttle pedal arm that I think may be there for a spring? All thoughts welcome!

Push rod to a bell crank would work well. It’s adjustable.

How did you work out the bellcrank length to get the ratio?

Thanks for the idea!!

I could use more - especially if anyone has the OBP pedal.

I saw< OBP didn't leave you much to go on. Your not going to like this answer: I eye balled it. My TB doesn't move much i only had to come up with about 1-1/2 in of pull up and down for full deflection I only made 2 a trial and this one. was easy to do and then I adjusted the pedal itself on the treaded rod for comfort. from there adjusted the cable for tension. I used tie OEM mazda cable. Lonnie (steal with both hands) came up with a cool throttle you should look his up. More work but cool!.

A bit late to the party, but great score on the parts washer. One suggestion. Get a water based cleaner. McMaster has some, as do others. Especially in a home garage. The only fire I ever had in our last shop in 32 years was caused by an errant spark from a grinder, some 30 feet away, when someone (cough, cough) forgot and left the lid open. I'm in the process of switching mine over now.

Thanks - it works great and I bought some water based ZEP that really gets the grease off.

Had to work on the Mini today. Spent the day swapping on some new tires, going through and completely lubing the chassis and checking things over. It's a great Mini. One issue I was having for the last 5 years or so was a belt squeal if I turn the AC on (it has a Rover Japan AC set up and a vintage under dash blower). I completely disassembled it and realized the bracket had horizontal adjustment when it needed vertical adjustment to make the belt tighter. So I used some 3mm plate and completely fabricated a new bracket that works great!! I am super psyched about that, since it has bothered me for years. Then I realized the front subframe had cracked at the front! Like completely separated. UGH! I thought I may have to drop the entire engine/gearbox/subframe to fix it. Thankfully, I was able to get in and remove the right front suspension, pry the subframe back into the correct position and tack it. I flap-wheeled both sides and seam welded it back together. Then I took some 5mm plate, drilled four holes through it (in a row on a long rectangle that covered the underside of the front subframe crack by about 3 inches on each side (total length of 6 inches). Then I welded it up around the perimeter of the plate and welded up the holes to the subframe as well. It's way stronger than it ever was stock now!

On the Seven, I did get a chance to finish rebuilding the Miata calipers, which was on my list. I'm still trying to work out the throttle cable, but I think I'm going to press forward with the ideas I have and use the OBP pedal box.

Before and after on the rear calipers. I like black better than red!

Finished off the evening work with a local brew - great place in an old firehouse that is right down the street from my work, and now they offer my favorite offering at the local beer store.

Still welcome any and all throttle ideas!! I've gotten a few good ones from the Haynes Facebook page, of course from this page, and from some private messages. THANK YOU!
