I just received an automated phone call that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me. They left me a phone number. I need to return the call before an arrest warrant is issued.

Oh MY goodness! The IRS has caught me cheating on my taxes, (again?). What should I do? The IRS is so scary! I'm glad that someone is looking out for me. Should I call them back and get their help?

P.S. Does anyone really fall for that BS?

With a little creativity you might have a few minutes fun with them.

Maybe look up the local FBI field office phone number and address for them to get back to you at?
Maybe you can hook them up with similar caring citizens from the daily spam file?

Go ahead and call 'em Chuck... Whot the 'ell, they can't possibly be as ruthless, conniving and cut-throat as the REAL IRS...

Know the difference between a hooker and the IRS?

Sadly, Chuck, older folks sometimes DO fall for it. We had a local case that hit the news here a few months ago.

Although they might not be able to get hold of the callers, it's worth passing it on to law enforcement.

Cheers,

I've heard of driving your car in anger...But never so much so that your suspension decides to sue you for it.

When I tried to get some action from LE regarding a scammer who was "Buying" goods using stolen corporate checks I was told "Off the record" that unless it reaches "Six figures" LE has NO interest.
The scammers were using the old "Send me the overpayment via Western Union" scheme.
W.U. processing needs to be revised, even if you send funds to one location they can be collected at ANY location, including foreign.
THIS is what makes W.U. so useful to the crooks!
Seems like a fairly simple revision, I'm not a banker so maybe I'm missing something?

Heck, the Feds can't even find the unwanted phone callers. I'm on the DNC registry. I think it is a list that the scammers get a copy of and use as a "Do Call Registry".

As I recall, early-on, all of this could have been nipped in the bud but our elected officials felt it was more important for them to be able to solicit votes without penalty. :BH:
