Does anyone have some experience with that?
After researching it, I realized that it would also work quite well for a 7, by turning the lifts 90 degrees. Wished I would have thought about it sooner. But now, I'm thinking about getting one for the Sky, which is a bit of a [Fatherless Child] to lift. Then there my the upcoming tire change season (by August we should be snow free) and my bi-annual rotor changes. Yes, on both my DDs I have to change out rotors that often, and we barely commute. But the brine that is now being used instead of salt, just kills the brakes. But I digress. Anyone have a Quickjack? What are your experiences?
Thanks.

Martin, Quick Jacks look pretty cool. Some good videos available that show how they work in detail, but sorry, no first hand experience here.

I've been thinking that building a "quickjack" type of lift for 7's (or Sky's) would make a useful welding project. Weight capacity and dimensions could be customized. Probably get away with a single platform and one hydraulic cylinder which would simplify the whole arrangement. The 90* entry approach should work if the platform didn't drag the tires sideways while they unloaded. Shouldn't be tough to engineer a similar design and you probably have some left-over steel tube around somewhere...

A while back I bought a set of Rorty plans for a small, manual quick lift jack. The thought was to modify that design to suit. Should be able to easily lift one side of a Seven (or perhaps a Sky.)

Don't have one myself, but you got me intrigued. The reviews seem very, very good overall, and the price seems reasonable. Canadian Tire seems to be the primary source in Canada. Amazon.ca shows a listing for them, from a "third party seller" at roughly double CT's price. Um...how about "no!"? LOL.

zetec7,
Costco has the best price, and includes shipping, which is always a bonus for me up here.
Having done a fair bit of data mining, I found a Grassroots Motorsports discussion, that had a fair amount of input by our old friend Keith Tanner. He fully discloses to be a dealer (through Flying Miata) but likes and recommends it. I think I'm talking myself into one. :BH:

Yeah - I do love Costco’s delivery-to-your-door policy for even large, heavy items! I talked myself into one of those some time ago...I just haven’t been able to convince my bank account that I need one!

Life has take a small twist again...

My father in law might need a lift over his garage steps (indoors) as he faces a lung lobectomy. I began thinking "ramp" in that space, but that's where he parks the red Vette. I wonder if I could modify one of these quickjacks to provide something of an elevator / lift to move him from garage floor level to back porch level, around 20"?

From the looks of the videos, i’d think the QuickJack design would be ideal for that application, and quite easy to do. That would be a fun project, actually!

Just got the Costco sale flyer. The Quick jack is on sale, $100 USD off. Sale is for 5 days only.

I have one. From Costco. I picked it up last December Black Friday special Costco had. It was very easy to put together and I have used it a few times. Happy to answer any questions I can. My one initial disappointment is that it does not go high enough for me to get my 12” race ramps under all four corner under the wheels. This is a camaro. It is very easy to use and I have not figured out yet how to store it other than off to the side for now.

My Quickjack failed. The fluid leaked out, and one side won't go up, the other side won't go down. I'm in communication with the company, but can't repair it until the snow goes away.

Thanks for the input everyone.
I went ahead after a lot of reading, and today, I got to play with it. I carefully followed all the pre-setup instructions, and after a few minor adjustments, the Jetta had to be the guinea pig. All went well, and then it was the Sky's turn. It has some very awkward lifting points, which much has been written about. I fabricated some lifting pucks (of course, out of official Canadian hockey pucks, which, by the way are manufactured in Sri Lanka. Yes, that hockey crazed nation). These pucks slot into the frame rails, protecting the body work that wraps half way around those rails. After that, up she goes.

I think that the system would work for a 7. I didn't get a chance to try it, but I would make a couple of wooden inserts, rather than using the rubber blocks, and line them up with a couple of cross rails. It may not provide perfect access, but probably enough to get to the engine, drive shaft and rear end.

I'm thinking about getting a quickjack, for those who own one are you still happy with it?

And did you get the 110v or 12v and wish you got the other? Or another brand?

Everyone talks about storing them on the wall and how heavy they are... why can't they be left on the floor under the car (assuming clearance of course).

Still happy with mine, use it for everything from tire swaps to engine swaps.

I did the 110V with no regrets. If I regularly trailered a vehicle to a track and expected to need to work on it there, I think the 12V would be useful, but in my case it's garage-only.
