Hey gang,
I'm thinking of selling the Meerkat project. I know I'll kick myself for doing this, but there is a solid reason that I'll share in the next couple of weeks.

Anyway,
Alan Bertwhistle's Meerkat project I picked up last fall in Florida.
Mid engine using 1st gen Toyota MR2 donor.
Engine, trans, knuckles, steering, brakes, etc all from the MR2
Completed space frame chassis with steering, and mounts all sorted. Some work still needed on rear suspension and shocks

Extreeeeeeemly cool fiberglass body that Alan created from nothing but imagination
Most of the body molds. There were a few bits we couldn't locate

A couple of boxes of bits and bobs (Alan's words) pulled from the MR2 and lord knows what else he dropped in there.
Hundreds of drawings and pics

I won't kid you, this is a project. There's some welding, plenty of plumbing, wiring, fiberglass work,...; well basically everything to be done.

Asking $1500 for everything as it sits in my garage right now.

Bump This project is still sitting in my garage.

Why am I selling? I got a job as a supplier development engineer at Volvo as part of the Crisis Management Team.
When it all goes to $hit, someone on our team gets a phone call and has daily calls, meetings, lives with the supplier, basically whatever it takes to get them back on track and we can start building trucks again.

As a result, I don't see myself getting anything done to this for a very long time. Id rather see it go to someone who'll take the next steps.

That is one fabulous project! And it's been available since May? I'm surprised it hasn't been snapped up yet.

Just sitting in my garage Jack. I've had one person look at it who had followed Alan's updates years ago. I think he just wanted to see it in person, no real interest in buying it.

Worst case scenario for me would be bundle it all up and stuff into my Sister's garage to get it out of my garage space. For now it will just sit on jack stands and collect dust.

Tommy, it looks like a great start to a unique project. I am surprised it hasn't sold by now. I hope somebody grabs this and sees it to fruition.

It's time to part with this.

I want it to go to a good home, but if it doesn't I'm going to cut it up for parts.

If I cut it up I'll build a single seat open wheel autocross car with the 4AGE and some of the suspension bits.

Might help you sell it if you showed a pick of the complete body without the buck on the rear.

Looks like I have a buyer for the body and molds
So I'll cut up the chassis, simplify and add lightness. Think I'll slowly turn it into a single seat autocross car. Shorter and narrower track than what it currently has.

Ended up selling the complete project.

Next step clean up the garage from all the plasma cutting, grinding and painting. The whole place is covered in a fine layer of metal dust.

Then think about what to build next.
