That looks pretty good from here. Just a heater?

Wheels look great from here too. Are those the TR6 wheels? I can't remeber.

Yes TR6 wheels. I think I’m going to cut the center of the old heat duck out and stuff that heater in there. I kinda need the space it’s in for round duct.

What ya think? The benchmark picture is what keeps me going. I have to call for the centers, I can measure for my axle now. Sweet!!

2-eared faux knock offs, not those octagonal earless ones, I hope.

Yes, Do you know where to get them besides Racemetal? And chrome lug nuts. What are they 1/2 x 18?

What is the axle length required (wms to wms) to place the wheels in the best spot in the wells for bump clearance?
What is the id of the rim center hole and bolt circle?
What is the plan?

MV, this is the skinny. They are sitting 1” inside the wheel well from the outside of the fender. I measured 50-3/8” inside wms. 15” rims, the bolt circle is 4x4.5.
The plan is to call Moser and give them 50-3/8”(unless I change my mind for some reason) they will give me cut lines off the center of the pinion. I’ll weld on ford 9” bearing ends for floating axles and Moser will send axles with the bolt pattern. I need to make caliper mounts too once this is done.

I meant the size of the wheel center hole for the hub cap. I was going to look for two bar spinners that would fit. Three bar are cool but they tend to block a lug so you have to loosen the set screw to access all the lugs. I had three bars on a '69 442 ragtop a few decades ago.

I'll probably have moser make axles to my specs again. The FFR 18 inch irs axles were crap the last time I bought a set.

Well that was one way you got me to measure and realize I need adapters in the front on the hubs. Inside is 2.786 My front hubs measure 2.298.

The wheels are probably lug-centric and not hub centric so no need for a close fit to the hub pilot.

I'd look to a 40 series volvo or infinity for the rear brakes with a floating rotor with the right bolt circle and close enough lug od, then size the axle flange pilot accordingly.

Just an fyi for other mgb builders, but a jeep cj5 rear axle (dana 44) is narrow enough as-is until you add a couple inches to the width for adapting to a different bolt circle unless the wheels have an offset more like a fwd with the little dish to the outside.

I have a set of mg calipers and rotors to use on the rear. I’m all welded up on this axle for attachment points there’s no changing it now. I have a full rebuild and seal kit for it, new clutch pack and gear set. Good news on the lug nuts. There is a pretty nice pocket on the wheel for them to fit into.

I was looking at the EMPI 9620 faux knock-offs on eBay a while back. I don't know if they would fit or not, or how they would look. They are not too expensive. EMPI used to be big in the VW crowd. I know nothing about them though. I just found this info about them:

Quote:
Specs:
Material: 2 Spoke Spinner Steel Chrome Plated / Threaded Adapter Cast Aluminum
Diameter: Base Fits 2-1/2" Wheel Bore Opening
Installation: Adapter Installs From Front Of Wheel With 3 Allen Set Screws Included With Allen Wrench

As long as the ID of the wheel is large enough, an additional adapter could be made to get it down to 2-1/2 .

The MGB wheel studs are 1/2-20 IIRC. Unless you change the front end, you would need them. I would think they would be available at any parts place. You may want to look at SS ones that won't rust. The interweb says the TR6 were 7/16-20.

I like oem stainless capped lug nuts but most are for applications after the domestic metric transition.

I put the hub through the rim holes last night. Fits good.
