Jerry Henneman

Post by seattletom »

I received word today that Jerry Henneman passed away last night. Jerry has been an active Locost builder for several years and always ready to lend a hand. He mostly posted on his own site https://jerryslocost.com/ but also on this forum (as JerryH) to ask/answer questions or otherwise comment. The following is from the last post on his site:

"SAYONARA -- Posted on October 18, 2024

I’m dealing with some health issues, primarily cancer, and I am not likely to live long enough to finish the car. I’m going to give up on the car and focus my energy on living as well as I can during my remaining time.

In the novel, ‘The Art of Racing in the Rain’ by Garth Stein, the narrator, a dog named Enzo, is struggling along a hallway when he dies. Being the narrator, the reader sees the event through his eyes.
He is struggling down the hallway when he is suddenly running through a field smelling the grass, the flowers and all the smells of springtime.

Perhaps, when my time comes, I’ll go from whatever I’m doing to speeding along a mountain road in a Lotus Seven.

Again, sayonara. or goodbye."

I understand through a mutual friend that Jerry's project (Duratec based, I believe) and parts are to be sold. His website speaks to what is available and his quality of work. As this is all very recent, I can relay inquires from interested forum members.

Although I did not know Jerry it's always sad to see another Locoster go for an eternal blat.
Safe travels fellow builder JerryH

I knew he had been dealing with health issues for a while, but hadn't really been following his site. I'm sad to hear of his passing, but am glad that he seemed to be at peace with it. He was great to meet at the Seattle Locost gatherings, and I hope he got to make that last drive.

Godspeed, Jerry.

I understand that Jerry's project has moved along to another potential builder. So what had been available no longer is.

Hopefully we'll get updates posted by the new builder.
Cheers, Tom
